Five homers help Wildcats complete sweep at Minnesota Crookston

            Wayne State College hit five home runs to help the Wildcats complete a sweep of Minnesota Crookston with 9-2 and 12-0 wins Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference baseball played at the UMC Baseball Field in Crookston, Minnesota.  Wayne State is now 20-17 on the season and 13-10 in the NSIC following the wins.
            The first game saw freshman Chris May go 3 for 3 with three runs scored while junior Dylan McGill struck out nine batters in just four innings of work to give the Wildcats a 9-2 win.
            Three run innings in the second and fourth powered WSC in the win.  Jake Perez homered in the second inning while May homered in the seventh.  RBI singles by Perez and Aaron Molinaro fueled the three-run fourth. 
            McGill (3-3) recorded the pitching win with his four innings of work, striking out nine while allowing just three hits and one run.  Matt Faulkner, Bryce Christopher and Curtis Bussard each worked one inning of relief.
            The second game saw WSC pound out 17 hits and three home runs while three Wildcat pitchers combined on a four hit shutout as the Wildcats completed the sweep with a 12-0 win in seven innings.
            Zak Leighton and a Michael Herman two-run homer got WSC off to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.  Herman doubled in the third and scored on a Nick McIntee homer for a 7-0 lead after three innings. 
            The three-run fourth was capped by a Mike Servais triple, Leighton RBI double and run-scoring single from Herman.  Servais added a two-run double in the sixth to help WSC clinch the 12-0 win.
            Wayne State had 17 hits in the second game, led by Servais going 4 for 4 with a triple, double and two RBI's.  Herman was 3 for 5 with a homer, double and three RBI's while Curtis Bussard was 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.  Leighton finished 2 for 4 with a homer and double and two RBI's while Jake Bruner added two hits in the win.
            Junior Nick Ragan (2-3) recorded the pitching win, allowing four hits over five innings with five strikeouts.  John Roberts pitched a perfect sixth inning with one strikeout while Curtis Bussard worked the seventh and had three strikeouts and one walk to preserve the shutout win.
            Wayne State will host Augustana College in a four-game NSIC series on Saturday (1:30 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.) at the Pete Chapman Baseball Complex.
