Box Score #17 Wayne State 3 Sioux Falls 0 #17 Wayne State College took advantage of 13 Sioux Falls service errors as the Wildcats cruised to a 25-19, 25-18 and 25-16 Northern Sun Conference volleyball sweep Tuesday evening at the University of Sioux Falls. The Wildcats stay unbeaten in NSIC play at 4-0 and 11-1 overall while the host Cougars fall to 5-8 on the season and 0-4 in league play.
The Wildcats outhit Sioux Falls .260 to .170 in the match, recording 37 kills to 34 for the Cougars. USF had one more dig than WSC, 45-44, while Wayne State had seven blocks compared to five by the Cougars.
Katie Hughes and
Alyssa Frauendorfer paced a balanced hitting attack for the Wildcats with eight kills apiece followed by
Elizabeth Gebhardt with seven and
Michaela Mestl six. Mestl recorded a team-high 13 digs with Hughes adding nine.
Alex Opperman and Gebhardt notched five blocks each for the Wildcats.
Wayne State will play their first home matches of the season this weekend, hosting St. Cloud State Friday evening at 7 p.m. and #2 Minnesota Duluth Saturday at 4 p.m.
