Frauendorfer leads #10 Wildcats in sweep over Minnesota Crookston

            Junior middle hitter Alyssa Frauendorfer recorded a match high 12 kills while hitting .647 to lead #10 Wayne State College in a 25-15, 25-12, 25-15 Northern Sun Conference volleyball victory over Minnesota Crookston Saturday afternoon at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.  WSC is now 14-3 on the season and 7-2 in the NSIC while UMC slips to 7-10 and 3-6 in league play.
            WSC hit only .227 in the first set with 14 kills on 44 attacks, but the Wildcats used three service aces from Michaela Mestl and another ace serve from Katie Hughes as WSC posted a 25-15 first set win.
            The Wildcats held UMC to a .000 attack percentage in the second set with six kills and six errors while WSC used four kills from Frauendorfer and three more service aces to grab a 25-12 win.
            WSC completed the sweep in the third set with 17 kills, five coming from junior middle hitter Alex Opperman, as the Wildcats finished with a 25-15 win.
            Wayne State hit .298 for the match with 43 kills and nine errors on 114 attacks while Minnesota Crookston had 26 kills, 13 errors and 94 attacks for a .138 hitting percentage.
            UMC had two more digs than WSC, 54-52, but the Wildcats had nine service aces and held a 6-3 edge in blocks over the Golden Eagles.
            Frauendorfer was the lone player in the match to record double digit kills with 12 followed by Elizabeth Gebhardt with seven.
            Mestl and Courtney VanGroningen each recorded 15 digs while Mestl had five of Wayne State's nine service aces.
            Leisa McClintock handed out 35 set assists.
            Wayne State will host William Jewell Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match at Rice Auditorium.
