St. Cloud State 3 Wayne State 0 St. Cloud State registered three goals in an 11-minute stretch midway through the first half to blank Wayne State College 3-0 in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The host Huskies improve to 6-3-2 and 5-2-2 in the NSIC while WSC is 1-8-3 and 1-7-1 in league play.
Alexa Starr scored two goals within six minutes in the 28
th and 34
th minute to put the Huskies in front 2-0 and Kylie Cleary closed out the trifecta of goals with an unassisted goal in the 39
th minute to make the score 3-0.
St. Cloud State had 11 shots to five for the Wildcats and held an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. SCSU held a commanding 11-1 advantage in corner kicks over WSC while the Wildcats were called for eight fouls to just five on the Huskies.
Sophomore
Suenly Galvez led Wayne State with two shots on goal while
Carys Hund added the other shot on goal.
Amy Oates and
Josie Brown were also credited with shots for the Wildcats.
Junior goalkeeper
Kylie Comba was credited with five saves while charged with three goals in the loss.
Wayne State will be at home next weekend, hosting #6 Minnesota State Saturday and Concordia-St. Paul Sunday in matches that start at 1 p.m. each day.
