Box Score #6 Wayne State 3 Minot State 0 Three Wildcats recorded 10 or more kills as #6 Wayne State College cruised past Minot State 25-16, 25-12 and 25-15 in Northern Sun Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. WSC has now won at least 20 games for the 12
th consecutive season, improving to 20-3 overall and 12-2 in the NSIC while Minot State drops to 3-18 and 0-14 in league play.
Wayne State never trailed in the match as the Wildcats hit .412 (second-highest percentage this season) compared to .125 for the Beavers. The Wildcats had a 46-29 advantage in kills, 53-43 in digs and 3-1 in blocks over the Beavers while also recording six service aces in the win.
Katie Hughes and
Elizabeth Gebhardt each had 12 kills for the Wildcats with
Alyssa Frauendorfer adding 11.
Senior libero
Courtney VanGroningen was credited with 18 digs followed by
Michaela Mestl with 10 and senior setter
Leisa McClintock produced 39 set assists. Sophomore
Bree Ackermann had three of Wayne State's six service aces.
The Wildcats will be on the road next weekend, visiting #2 Northern State Friday night at 7 p.m. and MSU Moorhead Saturday in a 4 p.m. matchup.
