Box Score #7 Sioux Falls 59 Wayne State 10 #7 Sioux Falls used a 21 point first quarter and 28 point third quarter to roll past Wayne State College 59-10 Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference football played at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne. The Cougars move to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC South Division while Wayne State drops to 3-2 and 0-1 in the NSIC South.
Wayne State took the opening drive of the game and marched to the USF five yard line before settling for a 23-yard

On the ensuing kickoff, Kyle Groeneweg of Sioux Falls raced a school record 99 yards for a touchdown putting the Cougars ahead 7-3. USF added two more scores in the first quarter, a Luke Papilion 31-yard scoring pass to Kyle Athman and a two yard run by Papilion for a 21-3 lead for Sioux Falls after one quarter.
The Wildcats put together an impressive 12 play, 68 yard drive early in the second quarter with redshirt freshman fullback
Houston Huss capping the drive on a two-yard run making the score 21-10 with 9:54 to play in the second quarter.
Sioux Falls added a score late in the second quarter as Papilion found the end zone on an eight yard run to give the Cougars a 28-10 lead at halftime.
USF put the game out of reach with four scores in the third quarter. The first was a 19-yard pass from Papilion to Josh Angulo. The next Cougar score was a 77-yard interception return by Solomon St. Pierre to give the Cougars a 42-10 lead. It was the first interception thrown by a Wildcat quarterback this season.
Papilion connected with Brady Rose on a 47 yard TD pass and Jonathon Witt scored on a four yard run to make the score 56-10 after three quarters.
The lone score in the fourth quarter was a 42 yard Brett Garner field goal to make the final score 59-10.
Sioux Falls held a 466-244 advantage in total offense over the Wildcats. The Cougars had 150 yards rushing and 316 passing while WSC gained 66 yards on the ground and 178 through the air.

Ryan Ludlow led WSC on the ground with 44 yards on 18 carries followed by Alex Kline with 39 yards on 10 attempts.
Redshirt freshman quarterback
Taylor Reedy completed 18 of 32 passes for 174 yards and two interceptions.
Shymere Williams had three catches for 54 yards followed by true freshman
Tayib Toussaint with three receptions for 31 yards.
Jonathan Parks added three catches for 20 yards while
Ryan Ludlow had three grabs for six yards.
Sophomore punter
Colton Hough had a busy day for the Wildcats with nine punts for an average of 42.0 yards.
Defensively, senior linebacker
Nate Kroupa led the Wildcats with eight tackles followed by
Jon Davis with seven. Zach Johnson and
Tyri Bethea each had interceptions for Wayne State.
The Wildcats will be at home again next Saturday, hosting Southwest Minnesota State in the Hall of Fame/Homecoming Game with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
