Katie Hughes to sweep Bemidji State Friday evening in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played at Rice Auditorium. Scores of the match were 25-22, 25-11 and 25-17. WSC is now 13-3 and 6-2 in the NSIC while BSU falls to 4-13 and 2-6 in league play.
The Wildcats got off to a slow start in the first set and trailed 17-10, but WSC rallied to tie the score at 18 thanks to seven straight points served by
Alyssa Frauendorfer. With the score tied at 20-20, WSC used four straight kills from Gebhardt to take a 24-21 lead and got set point on a BSU service error for a 25-22 win.
Wayne State held BSU to just five kills in the second set and posted 13 kills to post an easy 25-11 win and the Wildcats completed the sweep with 19 kills in the final set as WSC went on to beat Bemidji State 25-17.
WSC finished with 51 kills and hit .259 in the match compared to Bemidji State's 29 kills and .162 attack percentage. The Wildcats held a 68-63 advantage in digs and had six service aces to just one for BSU, but the Beavers held a 6-3 edge in blocks over the Wildcats.
Elizabeth Gebhardt led Wayne State with 12 kills and a .385 attack percentage while senior
Katie Hughes added 11 kills and 21 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.

Michaela Mestl added 18 digs for the Wildcats while senior setter
Leisa McClintock handed out 40 set assists.
Wayne State will be at home again Saturday afternoon hosting Minnesota Crookston in a 4 p.m. contest at Rice Auditorium.
