#9 Wayne State forced 25 St. Cloud State attack errors while hitting .287 as the Wildcats rolled to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-14 Northern Sun Conference volleyball win Saturday afternoon over St. Cloud State at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. The Wildcats move to 17-6 on the year and 8-6 in league play while the Huskies are 8-15 and 3-11 in the NSIC.
The Wildcats never trailed in the first set as WSC recorded 12 kills in a 25-14 first set win.
The second set saw WSC force 10 Husky attack errors while making just one error with 11 kills as the 'Cats cruised to a 25-15 set win.
Wayne State completed the sweep in the third set forcing another 10 attack errors while playing 13 Wildcats in a 25-14 win.
Wayne State hit .287 for the match with 33 kills and just eight attack errors on 87 attempts while St. Cloud State was held to a .052 attack percentage on 31 kills, 25 errors and 115 attempts.
Erin Gross led Wayne State with 11 kills followed by
Michaela Mestl with eight. Sophomore setter
Megan Gebhardt notched a double-double with 24 assists and 10 digs while Mestl finished with a team-high 15 digs followed by
Haley Kauth with 13.
Senior
Alyssa Frauendorfer tied a career-high with eight blocks in the win.
The Wildcats will be on the road next weekend visiting Minnesota Crookston Friday night at 6 p.m. and Bemidji State Saturday in a 4 p.m. contest.
