Box Score Minnesota Duluth 10 Wayne State 4

Wayne State College saw an early 4-0 lead evaporate in the middle innings as Minnesota Duluth used a five-run sixth inning to defeat the Wildcats 10-4 Thursday morning at the RussMatt Central Florida Baseball Invitational in Auburndale, Florida.  WSC remains winless on their spring break trip (0-5), dropping to 3-10 overall while the Bulldogs move to 5-4 with the win.
The Wildcats took advantage of early errors by UMD to build a 4-0 lead after two innings.  WSC had just one hit in a three-run first inning, but used two Bulldog errors to plate three runs.  Curtis Bussard's lead-off single was the lone hit of the inning.  Bodie Cooper had a bases loaded walk to score Bussard.  Tanner Simons (error) scored on a double play ball while Cody Jenkins (error) crossed the plate on a passed ball.
In the second, Nick McIntee walked and scored on a UMD fielding error for a 4-0 WSC lead.
But Minnesota Duluth scored two runs in the fourth and took the lead for good with a five-run sixth.  The Bulldogs added three insurance runs in the eighth to make the final 10-4.
UMD had 17 hits in the contest to just five for WSC.  Bussard was 2 for 4 with a double and single and one run scored.  Alex Kreft doubled while Cooper and Brandon Fowler each singled.
Starting pitcher Taner Ledezma (1-1) suffered the pitching loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts.  Connor Keating worked two innings of relief and was charged with four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts while Teague McFadden fired two perfect innings of relief to close the game with one strikeout.
Wayne State will close out play in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Friday with a noon game against St. Joseph's College of Indiana.
