Two quick goals lead #22 Bemidji State in 2-0 win over Wildcats

            #22 Bemidji State scored two goals in less than three minutes early in the second half as the Beavers blanked Wayne State College 2-0 in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played Saturday afternoon at Chet Anderson Stadium in rainy Bemidji, Minnesota.  BSU is 11-0-1 and 9-0-1 in league play while WSC falls to 3-6-4 and 2-5-3 in the NSIC.
            The two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half with the host Beavers recording one more shot than the Wildcats 6-5.
            But Bemidji State struck for a pair of goals in less than three minutes early in the second half to take control of the contest to record the 2-0 win.
            The first score came on a penalty kick at the 53:50 mark with the second goal coming just over 2:30 later at the 56:32 mark for the host Beavers.
            Bemidji State finished the contest with a 19-11 advantage in shots including 10-5 in shots on goal over the Wildcats.  The Beavers held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks over WSC while Bemidji State was called for 10 fouls to five on the Wildcats.
            For WSC, Sophie Ketchmark, Rachel Fraser, Christina Stasi and Samantha Phillips each had two shots and one shot on goal.  Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Grisham made eight saves while giving up two goals in the loss.
            WSC will be in action again Sunday playing a 1 p.m. contest at Minnesota Crookston.
