#20 Wayne State rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat Minnesota State 15-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-23 Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played in Mankato, Minnesota. The Wildcats are now 15-8 and 8-5 in conference play while the host Mavericks drop to 11-10 and 5-8 in the Northern Sun.
The Mavericks took control of the match early, using a .483 hitting percentage to cruise to a 25-15 win in the first set.
Wayne State followed up with hot hitting of their own as the Wildcats used 12 kills and a .417 attack percentage to even the match 1-1.
Erin Gross paced the Wildcats with four kills in the set.
After trading points for the first half of the third set, WSC took the lead for good at 14-13 thanks to an MSU attack error. The Wildcats then rattled off three consecutive kills to take a 17-13 lead and force Minnesota State to use a timeout before going on to take the third set 25-20.
The fourth set proved to be the closest as there were 12 ties and seven lead changes. Both teams hit over .300 in the set with Wayne State using 19 kills to win the set 25-23. Sophomore
Katie Stephens had six kills in the set to lead the 'Cats.
Wayne State hit .320 in the match with 52 kills and 12 errors on 125 attempts while Minnesota State had an attack percentage of .315 with 57 kills, 16 errors and 130 attempts.
WSC held a five to two advantage in blocks over MSU while the Mavericks had seven more digs than the Wildcats 57-50.
Katie Stephens led Wayne State posting her fourth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 12 digs. Redshirt freshman

Erin Gross each added 11 kills for WSC.

Haley Kauth accounted for 15 digs while junior
Megan Gebhardt added 10 digs and 46 assists.
The Wildcats return home to Rice Auditorium next weekend for NSIC matches against Upper Iowa Friday night at 6 p.m. and #15 Winona State Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
