WSC ends year with 0-0 tie at Sioux Falls

            Wayne State College and Sioux Falls battled to a 0-0 tie in double overtime in the 2017 women's soccer season finale Sunday afternoon at the USF Sports Complex in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  The Wildcats end the year with records of 4-8-6 overall and 3-7-5 in the NSIC while the Cougars finish 5-9-4 and 4-7-7 in NSIC games.
            The host Cougars held a commanding 10-2 shot advantage in the first half over the Wildcats. 
            The second half saw USF with an 8-5 edge in shots over the 'Cats, but WSC nearly won the game in regulation with just under three minutes left when freshman Rylie Wehner's shot hit the cross bar for Wayne State's best scoring chance in regulation.
            In the two overtime sessions, WSC recorded four of the five shots as neither team scored to end the season in a 0-0 double overtime tie.
            Sioux Falls finished the contest with a 19-11 advantage in shots and 8-6 in shots on goal over the Wildcats.
            The Cougars had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks on WSC and were called for seven fouls to just one on WSC.
            Freshman Rylie Wehner had four of Wayne State's 11 shots in the contest with two on goal along with junior Brooke BuzzellHannah Knight and Alexis Strothers also had shots on goal for the Wildcats.
            Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Grisham posted her second straight shutout and fourth of the year with eight saves.
            The contest marked the final game in a Wildcat uniform for two seniors – Bryana Garcia and Hannah Knight.
