Minot State handed Wayne State College a 2-0 defeat in NSIC women's soccer played Saturday afternoon at the WSC Soccer Pitch in Wayne. The visiting Beavers improved to 2-2-1 on the year and 1-1 in the NSIC while WSC dropped to 1-2-2 and 0-1-1 in league games.
The Beavers came out the aggressor early in the contest and scored in the 12
th minute on a free kick from Kelli Creese for a 1-0 lead at intermission.
Minot State scored an insurance goal at the 62:11 mark from Sofia Lewis to make the final score 2-0.
Minot State held a 21-14 advantage in shots over WSC including 11-2 in shots on goal. The Beavers had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks and were called for 16 fouls to 12 on the Wildcats.
Freshman
Rylie Wehner led WSC with three shots followed by
Hannah Knight,
Rachel Fraser and
Alexis Strothers with two each.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Rachel Grisham accounted for nine saves while allowing two goals in the loss.
The Wildcats will be at home on Sunday afternoon hosting the University of Mary in a 1 p.m. NSIC contest at the WSC Soccer Pitch.
