Balanced attack carries WSC volleyball in sweep over Minot State

            Wayne State College had three players record double digits in kills and the Wildcats held Minot State to a -.080 attack percentage as the Wildcats cruised to a 25-12, 25-7, 25-15 Northern Sun Conference volleyball win over the Beavers Saturday afternoon at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.  The Wildcats are now 19-6 and 11-5 in the NSIC while Minot State falls to 11-15 and 4-12 in conference play with the loss.
            The Wildcats never trailed in the first set to take a 25-12 win.  WSC forced Minot State into 10 attack errors in the first set while hitting .300 with 14 kills and just two attack errors.  Sophomore Alyssa Ballenger had five kills with Jaci Brahmer adding four to pace WSC in the first set.
            Wayne State continued to click in the second set, recording five service aces while posting a .636 attack percentage with 15 kills and just one error on 22 attempts as the 'Cats recorded a 25-7 set win.  Ballenger had a team-high four kills while Morgan Alexander and Tarrin Beller each notched two service aces.
            The third set saw WSC force another 10 attack errors on Minot State with five blocks and the Wildcats completed the sweep with a 25-15 third set win.  Katie Stephens posted six kills on just eight attacks in the third set for WSC while Brahmer added three blocks and three kills.
            Wayne State finished the match hitting .354 with 42 kills on 99 attacks with just seven errors while Minot State hit -.080 with 17 kills and 25 errors on 100 attempts.  The 'Cats held a 53-45 advantage in digs and 9-4 edge in blocks over the Beavers.  WSC also had six service aces to just two for Minot State.
            Ballenger led WSC in hitting with 12 kills followed by Brahmer and Stephens with 10 apiece.  Brahmer led WSC in blocks with five while Beller and setter Megan Gebhardt each had four.  Junior libero Haley Kauth accounted for 13 digs with Maddie Duffy adding 12 while Duffy and Beller each had two service aces.
            Wayne State travels to Rapid City, South Dakota Tuesday for a non-conference match at South Dakota School of Mines with first serve at 6 p.m. Central Time.
