Huskers top Wildcats in men's basketball exhibition game 75-40

            Nebraska defeated Wayne State College 75-40 Thursday evening in a men's basketball exhibition contest played at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln before an announced crowd of 15,385.
            Both teams struggled shooting the ball in the first half with both teams hovering around the 33 percent mark the first 20 minutes.
            Senior guard Vance Janssen drained a 3-pointer at the 17:25 mark to give the Wildcats their lone lead of the night at 3-2.
            Nebraska built a 14-9 lead at the 12-under media timeout and took their first double digit lead of the night with a 7-0 run at 21-9. 
            With the Huskers leading 28-13 at the 6:29 mark, Wayne State used baskets from Janssen and Trevin Joseph to get within 11 at 28-17 with 5:43 remaining in the first half. Nebraska closed the half on an 11-4 run to take a 39-21 advantage at intermission.
            Nebraska outscored Wayne State 36-19 in the second half and held the Wildcats without a basket for the final 6:10 of the contest.
            After Nebraska scored the first four points of the second half for a 43-21 lead, WSC got a 3-pointer from Joseph to make the score 43-24 and that's as close as the Wildcats got in the second half.  The Wildcats ended the second half making just 6 of 34 shots for 17.6 percent.            
            Wayne State ended the game shooting 16 of 68 from the field for 23.5 percent, including 5 of 22 from 3-point range.  The 'Cats were 3 of 4 from the foul line.
            Nebraska was 26 of 66 from the floor for 39.4 percent, going only 4 of 26 behind the arc (15.4%) and 19 for 22 at the free throw stripe.
            Joseph led WSC in scoring with eight points followed by Nick Ferrarini with seven.  Freshman Jordan Janssen led the 'Cats on the glass with eight caroms.
            The Huskers held a 56-35 edge in rebounding over the Wildcats.  WSC had 12 turnovers in the game to 11 for the Huskers. 
            Kendall Jacks had three assists for the Wildcats.
            For Nebraska, Isaiah Roby had 12 points and 10 rebounds followed by James Palmer with 10.
            Wayne State opens the regular season on Friday, November 9th facing Pittsburg State at 4 p.m. in Warrensburg, Missouri.
