MSU Moorhead scored a goal off a corner kick with just under 15 minutes remaining to give the visiting Dragons a 1-0 Northern Sun Conference women's soccer victory over Wayne State College Friday afternoon to snap the Wildcats' three-game win streak. WSC drops to 5-4-3 overall and 5-3-1 in the NSIC with the loss while MSU Moorhead improves to 4-3-4 and 2-3-3 in league games.
Wayne State had the wind at their back in the first half and held a 10-1 advantage on shots over the Dragons, but could not find the back of the net with several shots sailing high on the Wildcats.
The Wildcats still maintained a shot advantage over MSUM in the second half, but with just over 15 minutes to play the Dragons had three consecutive corner kicks and converted on the third one as Lindsay Brownell scored on a header in front of the goal off the corner kick from Mckenzie Ickert at the 75:39 mark for the lone goal of the contest.
WSC had one last chance to score with a corner kick with just over six minutes to play but could not get off a shot as the Dragons held on for the 1-0 win.
Wayne State finished the contest with a 14-3 advantage in shots over MSUM including 7-3 in shots on goal. The visiting Dragons had one more corner kick than WSC, 6-5, and were called for 15 fouls compared to eight on WSC.

Rylie Wehner had four shots for the Wildcats (one on goal) while Sophie Ketchmark recorded three shots with two on goal.
Gabi Rosa also had two shots on goal for the Wildcats.
Senior goalkeeper
Rachel Grisham was credited with two saves in the contest while allowing one goal.
Wayne State will be at home again Sunday afternoon hosting Northern State in a 1 p.m. NSIC contest at the WSC Soccer Pitch.
