NSIC Women's Basketball Weekly Release 12/3/19

Sophomore reserve guard Kylie Hammer of Wayne State College was announced Tuesday as the Northern Sun Conference Women's Basketball South Division Player of the Week following her performance in Saturday's 80-76 victory over Augustana.  It's the first time the graduate of Wayne High School has received NSIC Player of the Week honors and it marks the second straight week for a Wildcat to receive the honor after junior forward Erin Norling was named South Division Player of the Week last week.
Hammer, a 5-6 sophomore guard from Wayne (Wayne HS), recorded career-highs in points (21) and rebounds (8) to lead Wayne State in Saturday's 80-76 NSIC opening win over Augustana.  She was 7-13 from the field, including 4 of 6 behind the arc, and made all three free throws in the win.  Hammer also had five assists and three steals vs. Augustana.  It was the second straight career-high performance in scoring for Hammer after she produced 20 points the previous Saturday in a 84-74 win at Black Hills State,
For the season, Hammer is averaging 13.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 49.1 percent (27-55) from the field and 8 for 16 (50%) behind the 3-point line.
Wayne State, 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC, hosts Upper Iowa Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Winona State Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in NSIC games played at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.
