Kelsie Cada recorded 10 kills and 8 digs that lifted No. 22 Wayne State College to a sweep over Belmont Abbey College 25-14, 25-11, 25-19 in the first of two matches on Friday at the 2019 Shark Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The Wildcats compiled six service aces and a .429 kill percentage in the first set of the match to win 25-14.
In the second set, Cada put up four kills on the way to a 25-11 victory.
WSC took the third set as they forced seven Belmont Abbey attack errors with four blocks in a 25-19 set win.
Wayne State hit .347 as a team with 38 kills on 95 attacks and just 5 errors while Belmont Abbey put up a .079 attack percentage with 28 kills, 19 errors, and 114 total attacks.
The 'Cats led the Crusaders 7-2 in blocks while dominating service aces, leading 10-2 in the category.
Cada's 10 kills led the way for the Wildcats as the freshman also recorded 8 digs. Tarrin Beller put up 7 kills with a .583 attack percentage. Hope Carter was the team leader in digs with 11 and also added 2 service aces.
Haley Kauth contributed 10 digs and 3 service aces. Redshirt freshman setter Rachel Walker had 35 set assists with 9 digs and 5 blocks.
Wayne State continues action at 3:30 pm today against Grand Valley State at the 2019 Shark Invitational.Â
