Wehner goal in double overtime gives WSC 1-0 win at Sioux Falls in NSIC opener

            Junior forward Rylie Wehner scored a goal with just over 3:30 left in the second overtime to give the Wayne State College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Sioux Falls Friday afternoon at the USF Sports Complex in the NSIC opener for both teams.  The Wildcats are now 1-1-2 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC while host USF is now 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
            It was the fourth straight overtime contest for the Wildcats as Wehner converted on the Wildcats' first goal of the season with assists from Brooke Worrel and Sophia Ketchmark to get Wayne State the thrilling overtime win.
            Wayne State held an 8-3 advantage in shots over the Cougars and 5-2 in shots on goal. The Wildcats had one more corner kick than Sioux Falls, 4-3, and were charged with 11 fouls compared to eight on the Cougars.
            Senior goalkeeper Rachel Grisham was stellar in goal again for the Wildcats, recording her third straight overtime shutout in the win with two saves.
            Sophomore Megan Phillips had two shots on goal to lead the WSC offense.  Wehner, Megan Schuster and Emily Kilby also registered shots on goal for the 'Cats.
            Wayne State will conclude their NSIC road trip Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. contest at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minnesota.
