Bemidji State tops Wildcats 4-1

            The Wayne State College women's soccer team saw their two game win streak snapped Sunday afternoon in a 4-1 Northern Sun Conference setback at Bemidji State.  The host Beavers improve to 8-0-1 and 5-0-1 in the NSIC while WSC drops to 2-6-1 and 2-4 in league contests.
            The host Beavers scored two goals each half and held a 4-0 lead until the Wildcats got on the board in the 69th minute to avoid the shutout.
            BSU opened the scoring on a goal from Sara Wendt at the 18:49 mark followed by a goal from Annika Fingal in the 35th minute for a 2-0 lead at intermission.
            Wendt scored again nine minutes into the second half for a 3-0 Beaver lead while Mason Schilling found the back of the net at the 65:35 mark for a 4-0 BSU advantage.
            Wayne State got on the board at the 69:45 mark when junior defender Jace Poelstra scored on an assist from Payton Haliburton to make the final score 4-1.
            Bemidji State held a 23-6 edge in shots over WSC including 10-1 in shots on goal.  The host Beavers held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks on the Wildcats while BSU was called for five fouls to three on WSC.
            Poelstra had the lone shot on goal for WSC scoring her first goal of the season.  Madison Kemp had a team-high two shots for the 'Cats.
            Katherine Hageman allowed two goals in the first half and was credited with two saves while Sidney Truman played the final 45 minutes and had four saves while allowing two goals.
            Wayne State will be on the road again next weekend visiting Southwest Minnesota State Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and Sioux Falls Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest.
