#1 Wayne State volleyball team defeated the University of Mary in three sets (25-12, 25-13, 25-14) inside of Rice Auditorium Friday evening. Wayne State now moves to 22-0 on the season with a 12-0 record in NSIC play while UMary falls to 3-17 with a 2-10 record in the NSIC.

    Wayne State would hit a .424 in the win while UMary would post a .139 attacking percentage. Wayne State would also have eight blocks in the victory with
Taylor Bunjer,
Taya Beller, and
Maggie Brahmer all having two blocks each.

Kelsie Cada would set her career high with 21 kills in the victory breaking her previous record of 19 kills vs. St. Cloud State last season in the NSIC Semifinals. She was followed by Brahmer with 11 kills.

Jessie Brandl would lead the Wildcats with 11 digs in the match. She was followed by
Jordan McCormick with nine digs.

    The Wildcats would jump out to a quick 8-2 lead in the opening set behind four straight kills from the 'Cats. Two from Cada and two from Brahmer in the run. Wayne State would continue to build the lead getting ahead of the Marauders 16-8 behind a kill from Cada to force UMary's first timeout. Wayne State would increase the lead to 13 at 22-9 behind a Bunjer kill. Wayne State would go on to win the set 25-12. Cada and Brahmer would both have six kills to lead WSC in the first set. Brandl would post six digs in set one also to lead WSC.

    Set two would be back and forth until WSC went on a 4-0 run to make it 8-4 forcing a UMary timeout.
Kelsie Cada would have an ace in the run while Brahmer and Bunjer recorded blocks for the 'Cats. McCormick would have an ace for Wayne State in the middle of the set to make it 14-8 WSC. Back-to-back kills from Cada made it 18-11 to force the second timeout from UMary late in the second set. WSC went on to win the set 25-13 after a Beller kill. Cada posted seven kills for the Wildcats in the second set followed by Beller with four.
Rachel Walker led WSC with four digs in set two fowled by Brandl and Bunjer with three each.

    WSC would jump out to a quick 5-1 lead to open the final set after a Walker ace. WSC would increase the lead to 11-5 midway through the second set behind a Beller kill. A 5-1 run for the 'Cats would force the first timeout from UMary in the third set at 15-8 behind a Cada and Brahmer block. Cada would get a kill to make it 19-11 forcing the final timeout from the Marauders. WSC would go on to win the third set 25-14. Cada would lead WSC with eight kills in the final set followed by Brahmer with three.
Havyn Heinz led Wayne State with five digs followed by McCormick with three.
    The Wildcats will be at home again Saturday hosting Minot Stat at 1 p.m. in Rice Auditorium. Â
