#3 Wayne State Sweep Winona State, Move to 26-1 on the Season

    #3 Wayne State sweep Winona State in NSIC action on Friday night (25-19, 25-16, 25-12) inside of Rice Auditorium. The Wildcats move to 26-1 on the year with a 16-1 NSIC record. The Warriors fall to 12-12 on the year with a 8-9 NSIC record.
 
    Wayne State would use a .430 attacking percentage in the win behind 16 kills from Kelsie Cada and 15 from Taya Beller. Maggie Brahmer would also add 11 kills in the win. Jordan McCormick and Jessie Brandl would have 13 digs for the 'Cats while Brooke Peltz added a career-high 10 digs in the win. Defensively, Brahmer would add three blocks for the Wildcats.
 
    The Wildcats would open set one leading 4-2 behind a pair of kills from Beller and one from Brahmer. WSC would then open up a 6-3 run forcing a Winona State timeout at 10-5 after Beller's third kill of the match. The Warriors would then come out of the timeout on a run of their own cutting the Wildcat lead down to 12-10 before a WSC timeout was taken. Wayne State would then go up four mid-way through the first set at 15-12 after a Brahmer kill. The lead would never grow bigger than four down the stretch. Back-to-back Beller kills brought the lead to 21-17 forcing the Warrior's second timeout. A Brahmer and Cada block would bring home the first set for the 'Cats at 25-19.
 
    Beller lead Wayne State in the first set with six kills with Brahmer right behind her with five. Branl led Wayne State with five digs while McCormick was second with four.
 
    The second set would start off back and forth between the Wildcats and the Warriors with the game tied at five. Wayne state then went on a 5-0 run an ace from Brandl and kills from Taylor Bunjer and Beller to force a Warrior timeout. Wayne State built the lead to 15-9 midway through the second set before going on a 5-2 run to force second timeout from Winona State. Cada would two kills to lead WSC on the run. A solo block from Bunjer and kill from Beller would give the 'Cats the second set 25-16.

    Cada led the Wildcats in the second set with six kills followed by Beller with five. Peltz would lead WSC with eight digs and Brandl would follow with four. WSC would use a .385 attacking percentage in the second set win.

    Wayne State opened set three on an 8-3 run behind two kills from Brahmer and one each from Cada and Beller. A block from Brahmer and Bunjer forced the Warrior timeout. Wayne State would continue the run after the timeout going on another 5-2 run forcing the final Winona State timeout. Peltz would have an ace on the run while Bunjer, Cada, and Rachel Walker added kills for the Wildcats. WSC would then go on a 9-0 run to bring the lead to 22-7 before they went on to win set three 25-12.
 
    WSC would use a .643 attacking percentage to close the game in the third set behind seven kills from Cada and four from Beller.  McCormick would add six digs followed by Brandl with four.
