Two early goals boost UMary in shutout win over Wildcats

Box Score             The University of Mary women's soccer team scored two goals in the first 17 minutes to hold up for a 2-0 Northern Sun Conference victory over Wayne State Friday afternoon in Bismarck, North Dakota.  The host Marauders improve to 8-1-3 and 5-1-3 in the league while WSC drops to 2-6-4 and 2-4-3 in the NSIC.
            UMary struck early in the contest as Mo Malone sailed an approximate 30-yard shot past Wildcat goalkeeper Hayden Wallace into the back of the net just 5:43 into the contest giving the Marauders a 1-0 advantage.
            The Marauders scored again at the 17:10 mark as Kendra Park scored with assists from Malone and Jessica Lemmon to give the University of Mary a 2-0 lead.
            Mary had just one other shot on goal the rest of the contest but the early two goals stood up as the Marauders registered the 2-0 win.
            The University of Mary had just one more shot than WSC 8-7 while the 'Cats had one more shot on goal 4-3.  The Marauders held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks over the Wildcats with Wayne State called for one more foul than UMary 6-5.
            Freshman Reagan Allen had two shots on goal for WSC while Abby Sutton and Alyssa Ferin were also credited with shots on goal.
            Wallace was credited with one save while allowing two goals in the loss at goalkeeper.
            The Wildcats close out their weekend NSIC road trip Sunday afternoon at Minot State starting at 12 p.m.
