Arkansas Tech scored five unearned runs in the second inning and took advantage of four Wayne State errors in the game as the Golden Suns blanked the Wildcats 10-0 in five innings in the Wildcats' final game of the Alvy Early Memorial Softball Tournament in Bentonville, Arkansas. Arkansas Tech improves to 6-4 while WSC falls to 0-4 on the season.
Following a scoreless first inning, Arkansas Tech used three hits and two WSC errors to come up with five unearned runs to grab a 5-0 lead.
Wayne State got the first two runners on base in the bottom of the second as
Kamryn Sparks singled followed by
Paiton Tornberg reached on an error to put runners at second and third with no outs. But the Wildcats could not come up with a key hit to get back into the game and closed the frame without scoring a run.
Arkansas Tech used a walk, single and home run to score three times in the fourth and closed the scoring with two runs in the fifth to make the final score 10-0 in five innings.
The Golden Suns had eight hits in the game to three by Wayne State. Sparks was 2 for 2 at the plate with a pair of singles while
Natalie Arbizu also singled.

Hadley Chvatal (0-3) suffered the pitching loss with four innings of work. Freshman
Grace Lucka worked the final inning.
Wayne State will play at the Emporia State Tournament Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Emporia, Kansas. The "Cats face Newman (Kan.) at 10 a.m. and Truman State at 12:15 p.m. Friday.
