ABCA/Rawlings Division II All-Region Baseball Team Release

            Wayne State College senior shortstop Andrew Hanson was named to the ABCA/Rawlings (American Baseball Coaches Association All-Central Region Baseball Team announced by the coaches association Wednesday morning.  Hanson was selected as an All-Central Region Second Team infielder in voting conducted by coaches in the Central Region.
            Hanson, a 6-1, 185 pound senior from Burnsville, Minnesota (Burnsville HS), led the Wildcats in numerous offensive categories this season to earn All-NSIC First Team honors.  He led Wayne State with a .336 batting average and had five homers with a team-high 37 RBI.  Hanson led the NSIC in stolen bases (37) and triples (6) and was second on the Wildcat roster in hits (50) and runs scored (39).  His 37 stolen bases this season were the second-most in a single season by a Wildcat player and he was fourth in NCAA Division II in stolen bases per game (.93) and eighth in total stolen bases (37). 
            Hanson closed his Wildcat career as a three-time All-NSIC selection (2^nd Team-2019, 1^st Team-2018) and was an All-Central Region Second Team selection in 2019 by D2CCA and NCBWA.  He finished his career second all-time in WSC history in triples (14), third in stolen bases (82-90), fifth in home runs (29), total bases (363) and at bats (632), tied for seventh in doubles (48), ninth in runs scored (148) and tied for ninth in hits (200).
            Wayne State finished the 2022 season at 19-26 overall and ninth place in the NSIC with a 13-18 league record.
