Wayne State falls to Minot State inside of Rice Auditorium Friday night 70-57. Wayne State falls to 9-6 on the season (5-6 NSIC) while Minot State improves to 7-10 on the year with a 3-8 record in the NSIC.

           Wayne State would open the game quickly on a 11-2 run behind a pair of three pointers from
Lauren Zacharias and
Logan Hughes. Minot State would then battle back into the game making it just a two-point game heading into the media timeout at 11-9 with 4:16 left in the first quarter. WSC and MSU would trade baskets before Wayne State would increase their lead to five and have the lead at the end of the first quarter 20-15.

           Zacharias would lead WSC in the quarter with seven points followed by
Kassidy Pingel with five. Zacharias would also add two rebounds to her stat line to lead the 'Cats. WSC shot 43.8% in the quarter to MSU 42.9%.

           Minot State would open the half on an 8-3 run to take their first lead of the game at the 6:25 mark of the second quarter. Zacharias would take it into the paint for her ninth point of the game to tie it back up at 25-25 heading into the media timeout at 4:33 in the second quarter. Out of the media, the two teams would trade baskets before MSU would build their biggest lead of the game at 37-29 before taking a 40-33 lead into the locker room over WSC.

           Wayne State would shoot 35.3 percent in the second to Minot State's 52.9%. WSC would lead MSU in baskets in the paint in the second quarter 12-10 while the Beavers led in rebounds 11-9 over the Wildcats. Hughes was the leading rebounder for the 'Cats with four in the quarter.

           The Beavers would score the first four baskets of the half to build their lead up to 16 at 49-33 before the Wildcats cut the lead down as close to seven at 51-44 after a pair of Zacharias three-pointers with 2:19 left in the third quarter. The two teams would then trade baskets to end the quarter with the Beavers up 55-46 over the Wildcats.

           Zacharias would have seven for the 'Cats after they shot 33.3% in the quarter. Hughes would add a pair of assists and rebounds along with four points to help cut into the Beavers lead heading into the fourth quarter.

           Minot State would open the quarter on a 6-2 run heading into the media timeout at the 4:57 mark with the score being 61-48 in favor of MSU. The Beavers would continue their run after the media timeout building their lead up to as many as 18 points before going on to win the game 70-57.

           The Wildcats were led by Zacharias with 16 points. She was followed by Pingel with nine and Hughes with eight. Hughes was the leading rebounder for the 'Cats in the loss with seven followed by Zacharias with five and
Abby Kopecky with five. Pingel and Hughes would each add four assists for the 'Cats.

           Wayne State would shoot 33.3% in the contest to Minot State's 47.3%. MSU would edge WSC in the rebounding battle 40-36 while WSC forced more turnovers at 17-13. Wayne State would also add 30 points in the paint to Minot State's 26 and also lead in second chance points at 10-7.
