The Wayne State College men's basketball team caps the non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season Saturday evening hosting Buena Vista University at 5:30 p.m. in Rice Auditorium. The Wildcats come off the holiday break at 7-6 overall and 1-6 in the NSIC, winning their first seven games of the season followed by six straight losses. Buena Vista has records of 8-4 overall and 1-2 in the American Rivers Conference. The Beavers are averaging 86.5 points a game and shoot 47 percent from the field while WSC scores 77.8 points a game with a 46.2 field goal percentage. This marks the first time since the 2009-10 season the two teams have met in men's basketball with WSC holding an 11-8 lead in the all-time series. BVU has won the last two meetings - 62-61 in the 2009-10 season and 100-87 in the 1976-77 season. The last Wildcat win over the Beavers came at the 1968 WSC Holiday Tournament - an 87-74 win on December 27, 1968.
