Wildcats Held Scoreless against Minnesota Duluth

Wayne State was held scoreless in two games against Minnesota Duluth (10-0, 8-0) this afternoon. Wayne State moves to 12-38 on the season with a 7-20 record in the NSIC. Minnesota Duluth moves to 36-9 on the season with a 22-4 record in the NSIC. 

GAME ONE: Minnesota Duluth 10 Wayne State 0 

Minnesota Duluth only gave up a pair of hits on their way to a 10-0 win over Wayne State in game one of the doubleheader today. UMD would score runs in the first (4), the third (3) and the fourth (3).

Wildcat Pitcher Samantha Felt was credited with the loss, pitching three innings while throwing 92 pitches with 55 strikes. Felt now moves to 4-17 on the season for the Wildcats. Hadley Chvatal also pitched one inning for the 'Cats throwing 18 pitches with 11 strikes giving up zero runs for WSC. 

Wayne State's first hit came at the first at bat of the game with Riley Holmberg singling to third base. The next hit for Wayne State came in the fourth when Paiton Tornberg singled up the middle. 'Cats would leave one left on base in both of those innings. Both Holmberg and Tornberg were 1-2 in the game with singles for WSC. 

GAME TWO: Minnesota Duluth 8 Wayne State 0

Wildcats were held scoreless again in game two putting up one hit in the loss to Minnesota Duluth's nine hits. The Wildcats would also only have one error in the loss. 

UMD jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead while scoring in every inning they played to get the 8-0 win over the Wildcats. The lone hit from the 'Cats came from Holmberg in the fourth inning off a single to center field. 

Grace Lucka would pitch a complete game for the Wildcats going four innings with four strikeouts for the 'Cats off 86 thrown pitches. Lucka is now 4-13 on the season.

Wayne State will be in action again tomorrow when they travel to St. Cloud State for their final games of the season. First pitch is scheduled for noon from St. Cloud, Minnesota.
