WSC opens with 6-0 win over Minnesota Crookston thanks to Stueckrath hat trick

            Fifth year senior Skylar Stueckrath recorded a hat trick to lead Wayne State College in a 6-0 shutout win over Minnesota Crookston in a non-conference women's soccer contest to open the 2023 season at the WSC Soccer Pitch.
            WSC opened the scoring in the 15th minute as junior midfielder Maia Vacks scored with assists from Riann Daas and Annike Syvrud for a 1-0 lead.
            Stueckrath scored her first of three goals at the 31:48 mark for a 2-0 Wildcat advantage and added another goal at the 41:40 mark for a 3-0 Wayne State lead at intermission.
            It took less than two minutes for Wayne State to score again in the second half as Vacks notched her second goal of the contest 1:30 into the second half, giving the 'Cats a 4-0 cushion.
            Freshman Joee Frogue scored in the 68th minute with an assist from Kaelyn Reeves for a 5-0 WSC lead and Stueckrath then capped the scoring with her third of the day at the 78:45 mark off a feed from freshman Tyler Donaldson for a 6-0 Wildcat win.
            Wayne State held a 21-5 edge in shots over Minnesota Crookston including 11-3 in shots on goal.  Stueckrath fired eight shots (five on goal) with three goals to lead the 'Cats.  Vacks added three shots on goal with two finding the back of the net.
            Both teams had seven fouls while WSC held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
            Senior goalkeeper Hayden Wallace earned the win, recording three saves in just over 65 minutes of playing time.  Senior Sidney Truman played the final 24:48 in the contest.
            The Wildcats will be at home again Saturday afternoon hosting William Jewell College of Missouri in a 1 p.m. in a non-conference contest.
