NSIC Volleyball Weekly Release 09/25/23
Maggie Brahmer of Wayne State College was announced Monday afternoon as the Northern Sun Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week following her play in three Wildcat matches, all wins, last week. It's the second time in her Wildcat career the Pierce junior has been voted Defensive Player of the Week and it's the fifth time overall that Brahmer has received NSIC Volleyball Player of the Week honors.
A 6-0 middle hitter from Pierce High School, Brahmer averaged 1.55 blocks with 3.55 kills per set last week while posting a .354 hitting percentage. Her top match of the week came Saturday in 3-2 win at #9 Southwest Minnesota State where Brahmer matched her career-high with 20 kills to go with four blocks and a .459 hitting percentage. She also had a season-high eight blocks with 10 kills in Friday's 3-0 sweep at Sioux Falls and recorded nine kills with five blocks in a 3-0 sweep last Tuesday over Chadron State.
For the season, Brahmer ranks third in the NSIC in hitting percentage (.366), fourth in blocks (1.14), eighth in points per set (3.86) and 10
th in kills at 3.24 per set.
Wayne State, ranked #1 in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, is 11-1 overall and 3-0 in the NSIC heading into Tuesday night's home non-conference match vs. Peru State at 6 p.m.
