Nick Bohn combined for four touchdowns while completing 15 of 20 passes for 199 yards to power Wayne State in a 48-22 Northern Sun Conference football road win Saturday afternoon at Minot State. The Wildcats improve to 4-1 on the season while the host Beavers drop to 0-5.
Wayne State's opening drive ended on downs at the Minot State 1, but the 'Cats then scored on four straight possessions to build a 27-7 lead midway through the second quarter.
The first Wildcat score came on a three-yard pass from junior quarterback

Minot State responded on the ensuing drive with a 37-yard scoring pass from Dawson Macleary to tight end James Mintmier knotting the score at 7-7 with 2:59 remaining in the opening quarter.

Ashten Schmaderer for a 48-yard scoring play to put the 'Cats back in front 13-7 after the PAT kick was missed.
After WSC stopped Minot State on downs and got the ball at the Beaver 43, the Wildcats needed just four plays and 43 yards to score again as redshirt freshman
Latravious Boyd broke loose on a 20-yard run to increase the Wayne State advantage to 20-7 at the 11:52 mark of the second quarter.

James Frank forced a Beaver fumble recovered by linebacker
Dexter Larsen at the Minot 25. Boyd scored again, this time on a seven-yard run, giving the 'Cats a 27-7 lead.
Minot State scored on their final two possessions of the second quarter to cut into the WSC lead. A 54-yard scoring pass from quarterback Dawson Macleary to Daniel Stokes was the first Beaver score followed by a Jeremy Caruso 31-yard field goal with 1:16 to play in the half making the score 27-17 in favor of WSC at the break.
Early in the third quarter Minot State recorded a safety as linebacker Carson Cayko tackled Boyd in the end zone for a safety, cutting the Wildcat lead to 27-19.
WSC then scored on three of their next four possessions to separate themselves again from the Beavers.
Bohn capped an 85-yard drive with a two-yard scoring plunge to put the 'Cats ahead 34-19 with 4:10 to play in the third quarter.
After a Minot State field goal made the score 34-22, WSC added two scores in the fourth quarter to cap the win.
Bohn added a second scoring run, this one from nine yards out, to give the 'Cats a 41-22 lead. The final score came as the result of a Minot State turnover.
Gerale Flye intercepted a Minot State pass giving WSC the ball at their own 13. On the first play from scrimmage, Boyd raced around the corner on the left sideline and sprinted 87 yards for a touchdown with 7:16 remaining to close the scoring in the 48-22 win. The 87-yard run by Boyd was the third-longest run in school history and the longest since an 85-yard run by Devin Merkuris in 2019 vs. Upper Iowa.
Wayne State finished the game with 486 yards to 327 for Minot State. The 'Cats were balanced offensively with 287 on the ground and 199 through the air.
Boyd ended with 199 yards on 14 carries and three scores followed by sophomore
Dawson Forgy with 74 yards on 13 rushes. Bohn completed 15 of 20 passes for 199 yards and two TD's. His top target was
Kendrick Watkins-Hogue with seven grabs for 62 yards and one TD followed by
Trevor Marshall with four catches for 46 yards.

The Wildcats will be at home next Saturday hosting #19 Minnesota Duluth in the annual homecoming contest with kickoff set for 1 p.m. at Bob Cunningham Field.
