Box Score The Wayne State women's soccer team lost a 3-1 conference contest this evening on the road at Augustana University. Senior
Erin Peters scored the Wildcats goal early in the first half and senior Sydney Truman collected six saves in the box. The Wildcats move to 3-3-2 in conference play.
The Wildcats found the back of the net first in the matchup off a corner kick feed from
Paige Pemberton. Peters jumped above two Viking defenders to send a header into the top right corner of the goal. The 'Cats only held the one score advantage for three minutes before the Vikings responded.
In the second half, the Vikings applied the pressure to the 'Cats defense, outshooting the Wildcats 7-2. Augustana took advantage late with a goal in the 82' minute. The Wildcats looked to apply pressure and had the ball on the offensive side of the field before a wild pass off an Augustana led to a last-minute goal for the Vikings, putting the 'Cats away.
WSC had four shots in the contest, with a pair on goal. Wayne State took three corner kicks and only allowed six for the Vikings. Truman pulled in six saves, four of them in the second half.
Wayne State will be at home Sunday afternoon hosting the Mavericks of Minnesota State at 1:00 p.m. on the WSC Soccer Pitch.
