#6 Wayne State posted a season-high .402 hitting percentage and never trailed in the match to record a 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 Northern Sun Conference volleyball sweep Friday evening at Minnesota Crookston. The Wildcats are now 11-2 and 5-0 in the league while the host Golden Eagles fall to 3-9 and 0-4 in league play.
The 'Cats bolted out to a 10-1 lead in the opening set, forcing eight attack errors on the Golden Eagles for a 25-14 first set win. Sophomore outside hitter
Channatee Robles had eight kills on 16 attacks and a .500 hitting percentage in the opening set to lead WSC.
The second set saw the Wildcats record a .483 hitting percentage with 14 kills and no errors in rolling to a 25-18 second set win.
Brooklyn Kusler led a balanced hitting attack for the 'Cats with four kills followed by Robles,
Taya Beller and
Maggie Brahmer with three apiece.
Wayne State posted five service aces in the third set and completed the sweep with another 25-18 set win.
Jordie Nekl had three of Wayne State's five aces in the set with Brahmer notching a team-high four kills.
WSC finished the match hitting a season-best .402 collecting 41 kills and just four errors on 92 attacks. UMC hit .165 with 36 kills and 19 errors on 103 swings.
UMC held a 43-39 edge in digs while WSC had nine aces to six for the Golden Eagles. The Wildcats had six blocks to just one for Minnesota Crookston.
Robles led WSC with 13 kills in the win followed by Kusler with 10 kills. Beller added nine while Brahmer collected eight kills.
