Wayne State shot 62 percent, had five players score double figures with all 13 players scoring points as the Wildcats cruised past Barclay College of Kansas 99-39 in non-conference men's basketball played Friday evening at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. WSC has now won 15 straight non-conference games dating back to the 2022 season opener improving to 3-0 overall this season while the game for the Barclay Bears was an exhibition contest.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 12-2 lead in the contest and was in front 25-6 at the under 10 media timeout of the first half before closing the opening half with a commanding 52-13 lead.
Wayne State's bench scored 39 of the team's 47 points in the second half as the 'Cats outscored the Bears 47-26 in the half to finish with a 99-39 victory.
Senior forward
Cody McCullough led the Wildcats in scoring with 12 points. Freshman
Matt Noll and sophomore
JJ Ferrin each poured in 11 while freshmen
Nassir Binion and
Aiden Sullivan each accounted for 10 points.
The Wildcats made 42 of 67 shots for 62.7 percent, including 9 of 22 3-pointers. WSC was 6 of 10 at the free throw line.
Barclay's top scorer was Tyler Hinton with 16 points.
The Bears shot 29.8 percent from the field making 17 of 57 shots, going 2 for 16 from 3-point range and 3 of 4 at the line.
WSC held a 46-19 edge in rebounding over the Bears thanks to seven boards from
Wade Voss. Sophomore
Landon Classen handed out six assists in the win.
The Wildcats will be at home again Monday evening hosting Bellevue University at 7 p.m.
