Sophomore outside hitter
Channatee Robles recorded a match-high 17 kills to power #15 Wayne State in a 25-12, 25-12, 25-17 victory at the University of Mary Friday evening in Bismarck, North Dakota. The Wildcats improve to 21-6 and 13-4 in the NSIC while the host Marauders drop to 4-21 and 2-15 in the league.
The opening set saw the Wildcats force UMary into 10 attack errors and a -.081 hitting percentage in rolling to a 25-12 win.
Robles had four kills and three digs to pace the Wildcats in the first set followed by
Chloe Hanel and
Maggie Brahmer with three kills each.
WSC used seven kills from Robles in the second set while recording four service aces to post another 25-12 set win. The 'Cats also posted five blocks in the set while forcing another seven attack errors on the Marauders.
The third set saw the Marauders challenge the Wildcats early in the set but the 'Cats broke away from a 10-10 tie and closed the sweep with a 25-17 win.
Robles had another six kills in the third set to finish her big night. Hanel added two kills and two blocks.
Wayne State finished the match with a .245 hitting percentage while holding the Marauders to .017. The "Cats had 36 kills while UMary had 26. WSC held a 57-52 edge in digs and 8-1 in service aces and 9-3 in blocks.
Robles' 17 kills powered WSC in the win. Hanel,
Taya Beller and Brahmer each had five kills.
Molly Romano and Beller each had five blocks. Libero
Brooke Peltz recorded 21 digs and had two service aces along with Beller and
Brooklyn Kusler.
The Wildcats close out the NSIC regular season Saturday at 11 a.m. visiting Minot State.
