Akeem Knox rushed for 162 yards on 30 carries with one touchdown and the Wayne State defense posted its second shutout of the season for the first time in 18 years as the Wildcats blanked Concordia-St. Paul in the Egg Bowl Game played Saturday afternoon at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne. The Wildcats ended the season at 7-4 overall and 6-4 in the NSIC while the Golden Bears finished 2-9 and 2-8 in league games.

Boston Hensley booted a 25-yard field goal giving the 'Cats a 3-0 lead at the 6:37 mark of the first quarter.
The 'Cats used another Hensley field goal early in the second quarter, a 34-yarder with 10:58 to play in the first half, putting Wayne State in front 6-0.
A strange play near the end of the first half resulted in the first touchdown of the contest. On third and goal from the one-yard line, the snap was fumbled by Wildcat quarterback
Nick Bohn and the ball was recovered by wide receiver
Kendrick Watkins-Hogue in the end zone with just eight seconds to play in the half giving the Wildcats a 13-0 lead at the halftime break.
WSC opened the half with a three and out, then Concordia-St. Paul drove to the WSC 13 before settling for a 41-yard field goal attempt that was missed wide left to keep the score 13-0.
The Wildcats then drove 77 yards on nine plays on the ensuing drive with Knox finding the end zone on a six-yard run putting the 'Cats ahead 21-0 following a two-point run by Bohn.
Concordia-St. Paul had one more drive inside the Wildcat red zone, marching to the WSC 2 before the Wildcats stopped the Golden Bears on fourth down to deny a scoring opportunity and preserving the shutout win.
Wayne State held a 372-203 advantage in total offense. The Wildcats gained 291 yards on the ground and 81 passing while CSP had just 21 yards rushing and 182 through the air.
Knox led the Wildcat ground attack with 162 yards on 30 carries and one TD to be named Egg Bowl MVP for the Wildcats. Freshman
Brennan Hayes added 93 yards on just 11 rushes.
Bohn completed 8 of 15 passes for 81 yards. Watkins-Hogue had four receptions for 59 yards to lead the Wildcats in receiving.
With 117 yards of total offense Saturday, Bohn became the third player in Wildcat history to surpass 10,000 yards of total offense and finishes his career with 10,076 total offense yards.
The Egg Bowl Most Valuable Player for Concordia-St. Paul was senior linebacker Brayden Hilgemann who had a game-high 11 tackles.
Defensively for Wayne State senior linebacker Tyler Leclair recorded eight tackles with one sack for seven yards and a fumble recovery.
Saturday's shutout win, coupled with a 30-0 win at UMary on October 19, gives Wayne State football two shutouts in a season for the first time since the 2006 season when WSC had consecutive shutout wins over Minnesota Crookston (28-0) and Northern State (7-0).
