#8 Wayne State recorded a .375 hitting percentage with just five attack errors as the Wildcats swept the University of Mary in Northern Sun Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon in Wayne at Rice Auditorium. Scores of the match were 25-19, 25-11, 25-11. WSC is now 10-2 and 4-0 in the NSIC while UMary is 1-10 and 0-4 in league games.
The Wildcats separated themselves from UMary in the middle of the set to pull away for a 25-19 opening set win. With WSC leading 9-8, the "Cats scored six of the next seven points for a 15-9 lead and the 'Cats built a pair of nine point leads to take the opening set.
Brooklyn Kusler had five kills and a service ace for WSC in the opening set.
Taya Beller added four kills.
The second set saw the Wildcats hit a sizzling .609 with 14 kills and no attack errors to cruise in the 25-11 set win. Beller had five kills on six attacks followed by
Channatee Robles with four kills on six attacks. Kusler and Robles each had service aces.
Wayne State never trailed in the third set, recording three blocks and 13 kills to complete the sweep in a 25-11 victory.
Eight different Wildcats had kills in the set for Wayne State led by Kusler with four.
The Wildcats finished the match hitting .375 with 41 kills and just five attack errors on 96 swings. UMary had a .157 attack percentage with 34 kills and 17 errors.
WSC held an 8-1 edge in blocks and had six service aces to just one by UMary.
Kusler's 12 kills led WSC in hitting. She also had two service aces. Beller finished with 10 kills and a team-high five blocks. Robles had nine kills and a team-high 14 digs followed by senior libero
