Box Score             The Wayne State College volleyball team used a double-double from sophomore
Channatee Robles with 12 kills and 11 digs leading the Wildcats to a 25-15, 25-14, 25-14 sweep of Adelphi (N.Y.) to open the season Thursday afternoon at the Eckerd College Invitational in St. Petersburg, Florida.

            With the score tied 4-4, Wayne State reeled off 12 of the next 14 points to take a commanding 16-6 lead in the opening set, fueled by
Taya Beller's four kills. The 'Cats ended the first set with a 25-15 win thanks to five kills from Beller and three from Robles.

            The second set saw the Wildcats dominate Adelphi with a .429 hitting percentage and 14 kills as Wayne State rolled to a 25-14 set win. Robles had two kills and a service ace to give WSC and early 8-2 lead and the 'Cats continued to extend their lead to 19-7 forcing a Panther's timeout. Robles ended the set with a team high five kills and a service ace.

            The 'Cats never trailed in the third and final set forcing six Adelphi attack errors in completing the sweep 25-14.
Maggie Brahmer and Robles paced Wayne State in hitting during the third set with four kills apiece.

            Wayne State finished the match with a .295 attack percentage, recording 38 kills, while the Panthers hit .157 with 31 kills. The Wildcats held a 6-5 edge in blocks and had seven service aces to just one for Adelphi.

            Robles led the Wildcats with her double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs followed by Beller with 10 kills and .500 hitting percentage. Senior
Brooke Peltz notched a game-high 17 digs followed by Robles with her 11 digs. Brahmer had a team high four blocks with Peltz recording three of Wayne State's seven service aces. Freshman setter
Molly Romano handed out 32 assists in her first career start.

           Wayne State plays two matches Friday at the Eckerd College Invite, facing Emory and Henry College (Va.) at 9 a.m. and St. Leo (Fla.) in a 5 p.m. contest.Â
