WAYNE STATE SOCCER CRUISE PAST WILLIAM JEWELL COLLEGE 4-0

            The Wayne State College women's soccer team scored four goals in the win against the Cardinals of William Jewell College this afternoon at the WSC Soccer Complex. WSC had four different players score in the contest, two goals in both halves.
            Senior midfielder Maia Vacks got the scoring started for Wayne State with her first goal of the season at the 19-minute mark. The second goal scored was in the 35-minute mark by Mackenzie Wright, a freshman from Kansas City, to extend the    lead 2-0 in the first half. WSC would hold back the Cardinals in the first half, allowing zero shots in the first half while taking 14 shots at the WJC goal.
            In the second half, the 'Cats continued to attack their opponent's defense. Goal number three came one minute in the second half from junior Jordan Bedard right inside the goalkeeper box. Wayne State would score their final goal in the 61st minute with Abby Evers scoring off two feeds from Vacks and Madilyn Schmeling.
            Wayne State led William Jewel in shots, 23 to four and took more corner kicks (11-4) than their opponents. The Wildcats controlled the ball for most of the match. Goalkeeper Sidney Truman collected one save in the game. Vacks led the team in shot attempts with four and Bedard followed with three. Schmeling led with a pair of assists and four other Wildcats contributed assists.
            Wayne State returns to action Thursday evening when the Wildcats visit South Dakota State for a 7 p.m. contest in Brookings, South Dakota.
