Miller's 20 kills power #6 Wildcats in 3-1 win over MSU Moorhead

Box Score             Freshman outside hitter Delaney Miller produced a match-high 20 kills to power #6 Wayne State in a 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 25-16 win over MSU Moorhead Friday evening in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.  WSC is now 21-3 and 14-1 in the NSIC while the Dragons slip to 13-10 and 7-8 in conference play.
            Seven different Wildcats registered kills in the opening set as Wayne State opened the match with a 25-16 first set win.  As a team, Wayne State hit .486 to open the match with 19 kills and just one attack error.  Miller and Channatee Robles each had four kills to pace the 'Cats in the first set win.
            The second set saw Wayne State get key points late in the set to break away from the Dragons for a 25-21 set victory.  With WSC leading 19-18, the 'Cats used back-to-back kills from Chloe Hanel, a kill by Miller and a service ace from Robles to go in front 23-19.  A Dragon attack error and kill from Robles clinched the second set win.
            Miller's six kills fueled WSC in the second set followed by Robles with five and Hanel four.  WSC hit .368 in the set with 18 kills and just four attack errors.
            The third set saw MSU Moorhead rally with the final six points of the set to extend the match with a 25-21 win.
            WSC was in front 20-18 and 21-19 when the Dragons rallied with five kills and a Wildcat attack error late in the set to force a fourth set.  MSUM had 21 kills in the set and despite six errors hit .326.
            Miller had seven of Wayne State's 12 kills in the third set while Robles added three kills and a service ace.
            Wayne State bounced back in the fourth set, holding MSUM to a .122 hitting percentage forcing seven errors while the 'Cats notched a .467 percentage with 16 kills and just two errors for a match-clinching 25-16 fourth set win.
            With WSC in front 13-11 near the midway point, the 'Cats used kills from Miller and Laney Kathol, a Dragon service error followed by a Kathol, Mattie Kamery block and an MSUM attack error to take control of the set at 18-12.
            Robles had five kills in the final set followed by Hanel with four and Miller three.
            WSC finished the match hitting .358 with 65 kills and 11 errors on 151 attacks while MSUM hit .243 with 58 kills and 21 errors on 152 attacks.  Both teams had 66 kills and four service aces while WSC held a 5-4 edge in blocks.
            Miller's 20 kills led Wayne State in hitting.  It was her third 20-kill match in her last five contests.  Robles accounted for 17 kills with Hanel adding 12.  Sophomore libero Anna Borner and junior defensive specialist Reese Johnson each had 15 digs with sophomore setter Molly Romano adding a double-double with 50 set assists and 14 digs.
            Hanel had a team-high four blocks with Robles notching a team-leading three service aces.
            The Wildcats are at home again Saturday afternoon hosting Minnesota Crookston in a 2 p.m. match.
