Forgy collects NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honor for second time this season

11/10/2025 1:17:00 PM

After rushing for a single-game school record five touchdowns and 181 yards on 28 carries in Saturday's 42-13 NSIC South Division road win at Sioux Falls, Wayne State running back Dawson Forgy has been named Northern Sun Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota Monday afternoon.  It's the second time this season (September 22nd) that Forgy has earned NSIC Football Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Forgy, a 5-11, 200-pound redshirt junior from Winterset, Iowa (Winterset HS), gained an NSIC-best 181 yards rushing Saturday on 28 carries, finding the end zone of runs of 35, 2, 1. 60 and 7 yards.  His five touchdowns in a single game breaks the previous school record of four held by Lamont Rainey in 1994 vs. Iowa Wesleyan and Elroy Brown in 1999 vs. Minnesota Morris.  Forgy has had an NSIC-leading 30 points scored Saturday and 217 all-purpose yards.
For the season, Forgy now has 19 rushing touchdowns and 21 total touchdowns, both single season school records that eclipse the 18 touchdowns scored by Brown in the 1999 season.
Forgy leads the Northern Sun Conference in rushing yards (1,239), rushing yards per game (123.9), rushing TD's (19) and total TD's (21) and all-purpose yards per game (163.7).  He ranks second in NCAA Division II in rushing TD's and total TD's, fifth in rushing yards and all-purpose yards per game and is sixth nationally in rushing yards per game.  He needs 122 yards in Saturday's season finale against #13 Augustana to surpass the single-season rushing school record of 1,360 yards set by Brown in the 1999 season.
Wayne State is 6-4 on the season, 6-3 in the NSIC and 4-1 in the NSIC South Division, heading into Saturday's season finale against #13 Augustana, who is 9-1 overall (8-1 NSIC and 4-1 NSIC South), with kickoff set for 1 p.m. at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne.
