Augustana scored two goals in each half to hand Wayne State a 4-0 setback in the season finale for Wildcat women's soccer Thursday afternoon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Host Augustana moves to 11-4-3 overall and 9-4-2 in NSIC play while Wayne State ends the year at 6-8-4 and 5-8-2 in conference play.
The host Vikings opened the scoring at the 8:05 mark with a goal from Grace Katter to take a 1-0 lead and used another Katter goal in the 22
nd minute for a 2-0 advantage to close out first half scoring.
Augustana held an 11-4 edge in shots in the opening half and 6-1 in shots on goal.
The second half saw Augustana's Madelyn White score in the 54
th minute for a 3-0 Viking lead and the final goal came from Audrey Parnell at the 64:53 mark to make the final score 4-0.
The Vikings had seven shots in the second half (six on goal) while the Wildcats produced five shots in the second half with one on goal.
Tyler Donaldson and
Addison Walker recorded shots on goal for WSC in the contest while
Morgan Mancuso,
Alaina Sorensen and
Tatum Berry each accounted for two shots.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Alexa Hofstetter was credited with eight saves in the contest while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
Wayne State finished 11
th in the NSIC this season with 17 points and a 5-8-2 league record.
