#5 Wayne State notches 10th straight win with road sweep at Minot State

            Freshman outside hitter Delaney Miller posted a match-high 16 kills to lead #5 Wayne State in a Northern Sun Conference road volleyball sweep Friday evening at Minot State.  Scores of the contest were 25-12, 25-20, 25-12.  WSC wins its 10th straight match, improving to 23-3 and 16-1 in the NSIC while Minot State falls to 3-24 and 1-16 in conference play.
            The 'Cats built an early 11-1 lead in the opening set, cruising to a 25-12 first set win.
            Miller had six kills in the opening set to get WSC off to a quick start while the Wildcats held Minot State to just eight kills while forcing seven errors for a .031 attack percentage.
            The host Beavers battled the 'Cats strong in the second set, but Wayne State prevailed in a 25-20 set victory.
            With WSC leading 18-15, the 'Cats used a kill from Miller, a block by Laney Kathol and Mattie Kamery and a service ace by Reese Johnson to take a 21-15 advantage and WSC closed the set with a 25-20 win.
            Miller had another six kills in the second set for WSC followed by Chloe Hanel with five.  Wayne State hit .481 in the set with 15 kills and just two attack errors.
            The third set was controlled by the Wildcats, who forced 11 Minot State attack errors while holding the hosts to a -.152 hitting percentage, as Wayne State closed the sweep with a 25-12 third set win.
            Miller had a team-high four kills in the final set with Hanel adding three and Kathol and Kamer with two each.
            Wayne State finished the match with a .361 hitting percentage on 39 kills and nine errors on 83 attacks.  Minot State was limited to a .042 hitting percentage with 27 kills and 23 errors on 96 attacks.  The 'Cats held a 42-30 advantage in digs, 7-1 in blocks and 4-3 in service aces.
            Miller had a match-high 16 kills for the Wildcats while Hanel added nine with a .600 hitting percentage.
            Sophomore libero Anna Borner notched a team-leading 10 digs while Hanel and Molly Romano each had three blocks with Romano posting two solo blocks.  Romano was credited with 32 set assists.
            The Wildcats play again Saturday visiting the University of Mary in Bismarck for a 10 a.m. NSIC contest.
