Wayne State could not overcome 29 percent shooting in the first half as the Wildcats fell to Concordia-St. Paul 77-60 Saturday afternoon in a Northern Sun Conference men's basketball contest played at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. WSC drops to 14-10 and 8-10 in the NSIC while the visiting Golden Bears improve to 18-6 and 13-5 in league games.
The 'Cats held a pair of leads early in the game and led for just 37 seconds on the night.
With WSC leading 6-4, Concordia-St. Paul scored eight straight points to take the lead for good.
WSC was still within three at 22-19 with 11:17 left in the first half following a
Kai Smith 3-pointer.
But Concordia-St. Paul scored the next 11 points and held WSC without a basket for nearly seven minutes to take a double-digit lead on the Wildcats at 40-23 with 4:30 to go in the half.
Concordia-St. Paul closed the half with 58 percent shooting and held a 46-28 lead at the break while WSC made just 10 of 34 shots in the opening half for 29.4 percent.
The visiting Golden Bears pushed their advantage to 28 points at 63-35 with 12:30 to play. WSC would outscore CSP by one point in the second half – 32-31 – and finish with a 77-60 defeat to the Golden Bears.

JJ Ferrin scoring 15.
Jay Saunders added 13 with
Matt Noll and Smith each scoring 11 while senior forward
Cody McCullough poured in 10.
Wayne State made just 23 of 68 shots for the game for 33.8 percent. The 'Cats were 3 of 17 behind the arc and 11 of 15 at the line.
Antwan Kimmons scored a game-high 22 points for Concordia-St. Paul. Cade Meyer added 18 with Reid Patterson scoring 15.
CSP was 28 of 61 from the field for 45.9 percent, making 8 of 20 3-pointers. The Golden Bears were 13 of 16 at the free throw line.
Concordia-St. Paul won the rebounding battle 44-36 with McCullough grabbing eight boards for the 'Cats.
Saunders had three steals while Noll and McCullough each had two blocked shots.
The Wildcats continue their four-game homestand Tuesday evening hosting #17 Southwest Minnesota State at 5:30 p.m.
