The visiting Marauders held a sizeable 8-1 advantage in shots during the first half with Wildcat goalkeeper Alexa Hofstetter making several outstanding saves while finishing the half with four.
Wayne State got on the scoreboard first midway through the second half as sophomore Briella Thompsen picked up a loose ball and blasted a long shot outside the box past UMary goalkeeper Kadyn Dilger for a 1-0 Wildcat lead at the 68:00-minute mark.
Less than 10 minutes later, UMary's Dina Polanco was fouled just inside the box and awarded a penalty kick at the 76:28 mark and scored inside the left corner of the goal to even the contest at 1-1 to close the scoring.
