Wayne State opens the 2026 volleyball playing four matches in the New York City area as the Wildcats play twice Friday in Garden City, New York followed by two Saturday matches in Flushing Meadow, New York.  Friday's matches for WSC are against a pair of NCAA Division II National Tournament teams from last season as the 'Cats, ranked ninth in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Preseason Coaches' Poll, battle #2 Tampa (Fla.) at 11:30 a.m.  The Spartans were 32-1 last year and made the national semi-finals.  Wayne State's other opponent Friday at 2 p.m. is Adelphi (NY), who was the East Region #2 seed last season and finished with a 24-9 mark.  Saturday the Wildcats play two matches at Queens College, battling the host Knights at 9 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. contest vs. Bloomsburg (Pa.).
