Box Score             #2 Wayne State used a match-high 14 kills from Delany Miller and 11 more by junior middle hitter Chloe Hanel to sweep Briar Cliff Monday evening in non-conference volleyball played at Rice Arena.  Scores of the match were 25-21, 25-9 and 25-15.  The Wildcats move to 10-1 on the season with the win while Briar Cliff is now 10-5.
            The visiting Chargers battled the Wildcats in the opening set, featuring 12 ties and three lead changes, before WSC finally collected a 25-21 set win.
            With the score tied at 16-16, Wayne State used kills from Mia Berg, Channatee Robles and Mattie Kamery to take the lead for good at 19-16.  Following a Briar Cliff block to get the Chargers within two at 19-17, the 'Cats used a Kamery kill and solo block by Hanel to put WSC ahead 21-17 and close with the 25-21 set win.
            Miller had five kills in the opening set for the Wildcats with Kamery adding four. 
            The second set saw the Wildcats race out to an early 12-1 lead and cruise to a 25-9 victory.  WSC hit .321 in the set with 11 kills but had five service aces to propel the 'Cats to the set win. 
            Hanel posted four kills for WSC while Kamery accounted for three of Wayne State's five aces in the set.
            Wayne State had a strong finish to the third set breaking away from the Chargers for a 25-15 set win and a match sweep.  With WSC leading 12-8, the 'Cats went on a 9-3 scoring run to build a 21-11 lead and finish with the 25-15 set win.
            Miller put down six kills in the final set for WSC with senior Ella Myler and Hanel each adding four. 
            Wayne State finished the match with a .280 hitting percentage on 45 kills in 107 attacks while Briar Cliff hit .118 with 21 kills on 85 attempts.  The 'Cats held a 7-6 edge in blocks, 48-37 in digs and had a 7-0 advantage in service aces.
            Miller's match-high 14 kills led WSC with Hanel adding 11.  Hanel also had four blocks while junior libero Anna Borner accounted for 15 digs.  Kamery had three of Wayne State's seven aces while setter Molly Romano was credited with 36 set assists.
            The Wildcats resume Northern Sun Conference play this weekend, hosting Winona State Friday at 6 p.m. and #5 Concordia-St. Paul Saturday in a 1 p.m. contest.
