Wayne State College junior setter
Molly Romano was announced Tuesday afternoon as the Northern Sun Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week following her play over the weekend at the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver.
A graduate of Council Bluffs Abraham High School, Romano averaged 10.46 assists and 2.54 digs per set in helping the Wildcats go 3-1 and capture third place in the Gold Bracket while being one of 12 players voted by coaches to the Colorado Premier Challenge All-Tournament Team. She recorded a double-double with 31 assists and 15 digs in a Friday 3-0 sweep over Regis (Colo.) and handed out a weekend-best 40 assists in a 3-0 victory over #25 Central Missouri.
For the season, Romano ranks fourth in the NSIC averaging 9.74 assists per set and has two double-doubles on the season.
Wayne State, ranked second in this week's AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, opens Northern Sun Conference play on the road this weekend visiting Minnesota State Friday night at 6 p.m. and #8 St. Cloud State Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest.
