Biography

Jim is a big, strong sidearm pitcher with good movement. . . expected to pitch many innings out of the bullpen for the 'Cats this spring.

2009: Was 0-1 with one save and a 10.24 ERA in nine relief appearances during senior season...pitched 9 2/3 innings, allowing 21 hits and 19 runs (11 earned) with seven strikeouts and eight walks...earned save at Pittsburg State on 2-23-09, pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing two hits and one run with one walk and one strikeout in 10-8 win over Gorillas...Named to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team for the third straight season.

2008: Recorded a 1-1 record with two saves and a 5.03 ERA and one combined shutout while making 13 relief appearances out of the bullpen for the Wildcats...struck out nine batters in three innings of work vs. Minnesota, Crookston on 4-6-08 to record one of two saves...also earned save with 1 2/3 innings of relief to preserve a 12-10 win over Nebraska-Kearney on 2-23-08...picked up win on 4-19-08 vs. Mary with 4 1/3 innings of relief, allowing just two hits and no runs with two strikeouts in come-from-behind 7-5 win over the Marauders...Selected to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team for the second straight season.

2007: Sake had stellar sophomore campaign with WSC, recording 1-0 record in 16 appearances with team-low 2.25 ERA...pitched complete-game three hit shutout with eight strikeouts on 4-2-07 in 9-0 win over Minnesota, Crookston in lone start of the season...opponents hit just .236 against Sake. Named to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team.

2006: Appeared in four games as a reliever, going 0-0 with a 7.20 ERA....pitched perfect ninth inning with one strikeout to help shutout Neb.-Kearney 15-0 on 4-4-06.....worked five innings, allowing 10 hits, five runs (four earned) with six strikeouts and no walks.

2005: Sat out season as a redshirt.

High School: Attended Valley HS and lettered in baseball, basketball and football.

Personal: Son of Jim and Susan Sake. . . Hobbies include hunting and fishing. . . Majoring in Physical Education.
