Biography

2012-2013: Selected First Team All-NSIC for the second consecutive season after leading Wayne State in scoring for the fourth straight season at 14.6 points per game...he finishes his career at WSC ranking third on the all-time list in scoring with 1,582 points, fourth in free throws made with 381, fifth in steals with 142, sixth in field goals made with 535 and eighth in assists with 236...was named NSIC Men's Basketball Player of the Week on 11/20/12....at one point during the season...for parts of the season, Shelby led all divisions of NCAA basketball in free throw percentage and finished the season ranked second at 93.5 percent making 87 of 93 free throws...Shelby scored in double figures in 21 of the 27 games he played during his senior season and scored over 20 points in eight of those games, including a season-high 36 point effort vs. Lincoln (Mo.) on 11/10/12...tied a career high making 12 field goals (12-17) against Lincoln (Mo.) on 11/10/12...ranked 12th in all the NSIC in scoring and was first in the conference in free throw percentage shooting 93.5 percent from the charity stripe...he also ranked sixth in steals per game in the conference with 1.59 per game and was 12th in minutes played logging 32.04 minutes per game...received NSIC Winter All-Academic honors for a third straight year.

2011-2012: Selected First Team All-NSIC after leading the Wildcats in scoring for the third straight season with 15.4 points per game...named to the UC-Colorado Springs All-Tournament Team...started all 27 games for WSC this season averaging 15.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 41.0% (139-339) from the field, 35.3% (42-119) from three point range and 81.2% (95-117) from the free throw line...had nine games of 20 or more points and scored in double digits in 21 of 27 games during the season...scored a season high 25 points vs. Northern State on 2-11-12...set a career high in three points made shooting 6-7 from behind the arc at the University of Mary on 12-10-11...grabbed a career high nine rebounds at UC-Colorado Springs on 11-19-11...set a career-high in steals with five vs. Northern State on 2-11-12...season high 10 free throws made (10-12) vs. Augustana on 2-18-12...named to the NSIC Winter All-Academic Team for a second straight season.

2010-2011: Selected Second Team All-Northern Sun Conference after leading WSC in scoring for the second straight season averaging 13.9 points per game...had 17 games in double figures with six games of 20 points or more...score career high 42 points on 12-15 shooting and 13-15 from the free throw line at Minnesota Duluth on 1-8-11...had 25 points with career high eight rebounds vs. Dakota State on 11-28-10...ranked 5th in the NSIC in free throw percentage (.881),13th in steals per game (1.22), 14th in three point field goal percentage (.400) and 14th in field goal percentage (.500)...shot 50 percent from the field (123-246), 40 percent from three point range (32-80) and 88.1 percent at the free throw line (96-109)...selected to the NSIC Winter All-Academic Team.

2009-10: Had standout freshman season for Wildcats, leading the team in scoring (13.8) after starting 28 of 29 games at point guard...had 20 games with 10 or more points and five games with 20 or more that included one double-double, 20 points and 10 assists vs. Minnesota, Crookston on 1-9-10...had season-high 22 points in NSIC Tournament win at Augustana (3-3-10) and vs. Southwest Minnesota State (1-23-10)...shot 51.7 percent (136-263) from the field and 78.6 percent (103-131) at the free throw line...ranked ninth in the NSIC in minutes played (32.07), 13th in scoring, 14th in field goal percentage and tied for 15th in assists per game (2.55).

High School: Attended Marion High School in Marion, Iowa...averaged 24.3 points per game during his senior season to help Marion HS reach the Iowa Class 3A State Tournament for the first time in 52 years...Shelby was a First Team Class 3A All-State selection as a senior and earned Second Team All-State honors as a junior while also collecting Academic All-Conference recognition.

Personal: Son of Steven and Robin Shelby...born on January 9, 1991...majoring in sport management.
